I've had a noise coming from my engine bay for a while now and would just like some opinions of what it could be. I'm getting it checked out on Wednesday but just want to see what people reckon. And I'm not on about the horrific diesel bag of spanners rattle
I'm betting this is the lovely N47 engine kicking up its favourite timing chain related issues and as such I'm expecting to have to get it changed.
The video does exaggerate the noise a bit to be fair and it actually sounds a bit more like a rubbing noise in reality. To the point where I thought it was the drive belt/tensioner/pulleys causing it but I took the belt off and it's still very much there. Car is a 320D ED, 60 plate, 90k on the clock.
