+320MB GDDR3 or +1GB DDR

hi all. I need some advice as to the following see my sig. Fear is probably the most taxing game i play atm which I want to play in 1680x1050 resolution.

I have enough cash saved to go for a 8800GTS 640MB card OR the 320MB card and another ballistix matched kit to double the ram to 4x 512Mb sticks total (as pairs cost about 70 quid delivered).

So its a question of whether the increased memory on the card at this resolution hopefully covering the 'gaming overhead'. Im leaning towards getting the 640mb card and using it in any bigger upgrade later (hopefully much later

) which will no doubt require ddr2 instead. Any thoughts?

I would say that at your resolution you would see little difference between the 8800GTS 320 and 8800GTS 640 so I would get the 320.
Could you not sell your current RAM and buy a pair of 1gb sticks? this would maybe leave you an upgrade path to 4gb in the future. Just a thought.

Running games at 1680x1050 with only 1Gb system RAM is not a good idea. It is much better to get 2Gb system memory with a 320mb GTS.

Do you think s939 system will last me to a point when 4gb proves useful then?

I think i may have to buy 2 new sticks if 2gb is as crucial gameswise as u guys think (specially being on a winnie with its limiting memory controller). But sooner or later Ill want a faster cpu and if Ive bought a whole new memory set as well, Im getting to the point where upgrade may as well becomes a complete overhaul.
