32bit memory address space Q

can a 32bit app access more than 2gb of data ?

im finding Battlefield 2142 is maing out my 2gig of memory in vista x86

plan was to re-install vista X64 and buy another 2 gig while its on the cheap.

but am i right in thinking, that bf2142 (a 32bit app) will still only be able to access 2 gig ?

x86 software can only access more than 2GB if it's PAE aware which BF2 won't be because games would take a huge performance hit from PAE.

Upgrading to x64 won't release the 2GB limit on BF2 unless there is a x64 version of the game. I wouldn't worry really.

problem is the BF 2142 is running like an absolute Dog

im running 1680 x 1050 with 4 x AA and 16 x AF

now fraps is showing a fairly reasonable 40-50 fps but the game will stutter really bad ocassionally

ive noticed that when i run the game i go to about 94 % memory useage, so came to the conclusion the problem was me running out of memory

nobody else seems to find this though
