I currently have an Asus P5k3 deluxe motherboard with Q6600 quad core cpu, 2 gig corsair XMS3 1333mhz DDR3 650 watt PSU. I’m hoping to go 64 bit so that I can increase the amount of ram in my system. I just need to know the following:
I assume I need a new CPU which runs at 64bit, will this mother board take 64bit cpu’s?

I know I have to purchase more ram, would it be best to get 2 new sticks of 2gig (4 gig total using up 2 slots for dual channel mode) or increase my existing amount to a further 2 sticks of 1gig, therefore having all four slots used (1 stick in each), or does this affected dual channel mode?

I also have a new hard drive which I will be installing a 64bit version of vista or windows 7 on (is windows 7 better than vista)
Any advise would be much appreciated.

ok thanks for your responses, so to confirm my existing quad core Q6600 2.40Ghz is ok to run on 64bit windows so all i need is more ram? if that is the case i can afford more and faster ram? plus the cost of a new OS, my version of vista is OEM :(. ive just updated my bios to the current version so hiopefully no probs with the motherboard.
