32gb RAM FOR 5800X

Hey, I'm looking to upgrade from 16 to 32gb, currently using Corsair LPX ram as I need the lower hight due to radiator and fan clearance.

I'm a little out the loop these days but what would be the go to LPX 32gb kit, speed? CL?

could you just get a second set of 16gb? I did that with my 5700x and running find at 3600/16

Any good kit with speeds of 3200 MT/s to 3600 MT/s will be fine.

I'd suggest going for 3600 MT/s speed RAM as then the Infinity Fabric and RAM will be in a 1:1 mode out of the box.

Something like the Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 32GB (2 x 16GB) 3600MHz Kit - PVS432G360C8K will be great.

Don't overspend on DDR4 RAM, it's cheap and most good kits are fast enough.

I just upgraded mine to 32 from 16 and its done a world of good

16 is simply not enough these days for most people

What is the spec of your RAM?

If i remember correctly, nearly all modules up to 8GB are single rank so you probably are ok to just add to what you have now.

I did used to run 4 sticks of single rank with a 5800X and had no problems at all.

It really does depend on the board and the memory

I got exact matching DIMMs for mine yet they refused to run in XMP so I'm just running 2 sticks

Went with 3600mhz as per a post above, went with Corsair LPX kit as I have limited room and the current LPX just fits.

Managed to grab a 32gb set for £45. Didn't realise prices had come down for ddr4 so much.

When DDR4 was new, you could buy dual rank 8GB sticks, but they're probably only slow ones (like 2133-2666). The ones I have are all 2133.

Nowadays, they (* some) don't even have 8 memory chips

The ones i had was 3600Mhz and could not find any dual rank. I only swapped them out as i did not want RGB any more.

Even when i got the 2 x 16GB kit there was reports that most are single rank, i got lucky though and got dual.
