Hi, im using my old television as my pc monitor. I haven't been able to get it to display the boot up text and the bios, it just says out of range. If i ever want to edit the Bios I have to plug in my crappy old 19inch LCD.

It's also a problem because i have Ubuntu and Windows 7 so when it gets to the screen where you chose which operating system i can't tell which is selected.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Are you using a hdmi from the GPU to connect?

If this is the case then it is not your TV - the HDMI outputs on a GPU usually don't activate until the drivers are loaded in the Windows/linux boot sequence.
The solution would be to use one of the DVI outputs with a DVI-HDMI cable/adaptor between the GPU and your TV

I'm just using a VGA to connect as my computer is about 7 years old it doesn't have any fancy stuff.

I'm Looking to build a gaming beast this year, it's just wrong to have a sony bravia display with an ATI Radeon 9800 SE Graphics card.

Any other ideas on how i can get the boot sequence to display?

If you're running VGA then I can think why it shouldn't show up.

I sold BRAVIA sets for three years and we regularly had them running from PCs and the boot sequence would show over DVI>HDMI and VGA>VGA.

Does your motherboard have an on board GPU aswell?
If do is there a setting in the bios for primary video selection or disable onboard gpu?
