330 (ci) tuning?

I'll talk to E-maps next week, might have to take a chance.

Merlin, have a word with Simon - he will be totally upfront if you question him on any figures. He certainly doesn't seem like the type to screw you over.

I had a remap booked in July, but managed to screw up with the insurance (they wouldn't cover me). I phoned him, and he convinced me not to get it done and not to worry about the booking (said his missus wanted him at home on the Saturday anyway :p).

Why on earth would you declare it to the insurers?

Insurance Engineers don't know the first thing about ECU's.

Didn't want to risk it, just in case of a nasty accident. I'd stuck my foot in by telling the insurer I was booked up for a remap before asking for a quote too... they're happy enough to cover Chips though

Got a remap friendly insurer lined up for renewal date, so all will be good eventually :D

Hi there

Honda's cost a fortune to extra more power from. Mainly because Honda did such a good job in the first place and secondly because they are small N/A engines which is always harder work.

I know mate - thats what I was getting at :)

One further note to this:

I got a quote off 'Chipped UK LTD' who is a member on BMWland forums today. They do BMWland discounts which means that it's £75 cheaper than what Simon at e-maps was charging. Again he seems to be pretty good with remapping the 330i and 330d's, so worth having a chat. Not sure how his customer service compares to Simon, but not heard anything bad about him.

Both Chipped UK and Simon @ emaps come highly recommended on e36coupe.com

plenty of comparisons of the 2 out there on many forums

Emaps is looking promising, especially cos they're only round the corner from me. However, I think I might spend some money on some new tyres before anything else.

These tyres SUCK.

Great grip at any speed but over 80mph trying to change lanes results in the car lunging around at the back - it's actually dangerous.

I thought I could live with them for the winter but they're actually dangerous. Feel like GS-D3's at high speed, making me very nervous. First things first though - I'm going to email Millennium Tyres and tell them they're tyres are dangerous and I'd like a refund and see what happens. Of course it wasn't me that bought them but what the hell - cost me nothing to make a complaint.

Incidentally, by chance last night I came across my blobeye scoob (04 PPP) and he was up for it - went from 40mph - he pulled away till about 65mph then I clawed it back. God dam it sounded AWESOME, little blue flame flash on gearchange :D :D

Perception of wallowy handling is a personal thing. These remind me of the GS-D3's I supidly put on the Impreza - lunging around at high speed, yuk.

My version of wallowy handling is probably your version of perfectly fine - but these tyres are scaring me.

I don't quite get this, I have GS-D3's all round and don't experience this, it's planted at any speed..

I guess coming from something as pin sharp as an ITR the BMW will feel a bit more lardy.

:p Easy Tiger - I said it was quicker round the twisty lanes due to the more refined road suspension (track suspension of the DC5 not really cut out for 80% of our roads).

Just admit it, its better than the cheap flimsey jap thing with the annoying 4 pot :p

I see BMW have installed your white and blue tinted spectacles under warranty :p

It wasn't cheap, it most certainly wasn't flimsey and it wasn't annoying either.

The doors and boot on the Honda closed with a better thud than they do on the 330 that's for sure.

So back OT - I wonder whether the GS-D3's with XL on them mean they've got stiffer sidewalls? Seems odd some people think they're perfectly ok and others don't.

Maybe the XL denotes a re-inforced sidewall?
