Howdy all,

So I currently have an LG 34UC79G, which is a 34" ultrawide 1080p 144hz monitor, ran by an i7 4790k and a GTX1080FE, but I'm wanting to make the jump to a 1440p ultrawide. Is there anything better on the market than the Acer Predator x34p? I've noticed that 1440p ultrawides max out @ 120hz, for now. Is this monitor likely to be refreshed/superceded anytime soon? I'd hate to buy it now and have a 144hz model replace it in a month or 2, or see the price of the x34p drop as a result.

I mainly play RTS games, primarily Total War Warhammer 2, and soon to be 3, these are very GPU intensive games during battles, honestly think SLI 1080ti's would struggle to max out a 144hz screen during some battles. I'll most likely go for the x34p, at £950+ I'm hoping it can last me 5yrs+, so will need to see me through my next case build too.

Well with student discount I can get the Alienware for £860, worth the extra £60? I've read there's more image adjustment options on the Acer though, which is a concern.

Tbh I don't want to spend more than £650 on either of them, as thats what the Acer drop to during Black Friday, but then I'm a tight git, and unlikely to see those prices again.
