Hi

i'm looking to upgrade to a 34" superwide 1440p display, i currently have a 290X so am looking at a new gfx card aswell.

Im going to have around £1200 -£1400 to spend for both.

I currently use 3 monitors, a 24" with 2 x 20" either side. I want to ditch 1 of the 20" and have a 24" on the left and the 20" in portrait on the right. I will only be gaming on the centre screen.

Should i be looking at a 1080 or 1070 card? Any monitor suggestions? I'm not fussed about a curved screen either way.

Thanks,

My 1080 at 4K (so more pixels)
Give you a basis

Doom ultra 60fps capped ultra txaa8

Overwatch ultra 100fps

witcher 3 ultra 45fps

American truck sim ultra 100fps

World of Warcraft ultra 100fps

I'm running
5930k
1080 founders not oc.

What ever monitor you buy get gsync or freesync its a must!!

My 1070 won't hit 60fps on recent games at 3440 res, but doesn't drop below 40fps so would be Ok currently on the Gsync.

People often comment that a monitor has to have either Freesync or Gsync for them, but currently to have to choose to sacrifice 21:9. 1K is a lot to drop on a monitor in order to have both. You could have both a flat 60hz 3440 and a VR headset for the same price.

Or you go AMD. £630 on the monitor (55-75hz limited!?), but you'd have to slum it on a Fury card for 5-6 months before Vega. This is what I'd do if I were buying again. Unless you are willing to source a 2nd hand Fury now and make the effort to sell it again - time investment - then you could argue buying a temporary card might cost you nearly half the difference of the Gsync in the first place.
