Not really for games, just would like better definition when playing dvd's and using photoshop. Also is there any real point in getting the 1024mb version over the 512?

Screen is 1440x900 btw.

hmm, well I might be looking at trying a few games out around the end of the year (if the family take the hint). At the moment I can honestly say that the 3450 doesn't appear to be any quicker than my old 9200se 128mb that was in my old xp2400+ system! Even with the simple games bundled into vista (and pinball wizard) it's running at maximum clocks, idles at 55c and resets at 75c (passive cooler).

At the moment I can afford to spend upto £75 on a newer card, oh and if it makes any difference, I'm hoping to move the machine so that I can install a TV card and finally get rid of the 21" behemoth of a telly currently in my room.

Maybe you would be able to get a used 4850 at that point? It would be a huge boost to what you're used to :)

Edit: Otherwise a 8800GT would work wonders as well, and a 4670 would be a huge upgrade, but you could probably do an upgrade that's more value for money than that.

Well thanks to the petrol tank letting go on my car the money I was saving for this is being spent on that, ahh well, maybe I can winkle a 4800 card for chrimbo.
