Anyone else got this model with this issue ? I have had the screen since July and have just noticed that if I leave the screen on say YouTube for 10+ mins and then start watching a dark video I can clearly see the YouTube layout still for a quite a while.

I thought this sort of issue had been sorted a decade ago on LCDs.

Do you have the regular model, or the 34UC88-B? I'm kinda on the fence regarding that one. The price is good, and there's 75hz support, but I'm scared of retention. I wonder if it's been fixed in the newer models.

JFYI - 34UC88 and 34UC88-B are the same thing, it all depends upon how the distributors and retailers set the product up - the full part number is 34UC88-B.AEK I believe

in regards to the original request on this thread, I have not heard of this before - have you contacted the service centre for advice?

Hi Daniel,

I was planning on emailing you tonight asking you if you knew whether this was a known issue or if I have another broken monitor ( 34" screens now, 2 Acers were sent back).

I noticed that if I leave my PC locked for 5-10 mins the windows 10 clock can be seen when I unlock it against my darkish but not black "spacy" wallpaper for a quite a while.

I haven't spoken to anyone yet was seeing if anyone else had seen this issue or if you knew about it. Do you mean contact LG directly about the issue ?

Thanks for clarifying. No updated version then :sadpanda:

Surprised you didn't hear of this issue before, there's plenty of posts on the subject all around the internet, for example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidem...wners_of_the_lg_34uc88_is_image_retention_an/

If this monitor was free of this issue I'd love to buy it but this is a massive letdown.

Never heard of it before I got the screen but then I did get it months ago now, I wouldn't if I knew of this issue before hand though. £700+ screen you wouldn't expect this really. But at least its not just my screen with the issue and I just have to put up with it until a screen comes out that doesn't seem to suffer from 100s of issues that a £99 random company you have never heard of screen doesn't seem to have ....

Said it before but buying screens is the worst part of building a PC by far, the more money you have to throw at one, it seems to the more likely you are to end up with a busted screen that cant be fixed or replaced. Think I might just buy 20 17" tft's for 15p, bet everyone of them would have no issues.

I have the same problem mate although dissappears after about an hour.

Followed the advice in the ultrawide thread of lowering the brightness ect and still visible.

My model number is 34UC88-B and purchased a few days ago. I don't really want the hassle of returning another monitor but looks like I may need to.

Here is a pic of mine. Couldn't capture the other windows on camera. My brightness is 15 & Contrast 40.

Yeah, but... why does it happen, anyway?

It's not OLED/Plasma... it's not an inherent "feature" of the technology.

Ever heard of this in a modern LCD? I didn't..

I think one of the Acers uses this panel, too... and doesn't suffer from such problems? how's that?

What was showing on the screen that left the retention ?

I'll try to re-create it on mine if you want.

OK.

I've set a similar layout on my screen, can't do 2 hours, but i'll leave it up for an hour or so and see what happens.

have just checked now after about 40 minutes and the lines are visible.
Think I will contact the rainforest site and see if they will send a replacement the same time as collection.

I've tested mine and can't see any image retention.

Ran this screen set-up for 1 hour ( OcUK forum one side - static image on the other ):

This is a couple of seconds after the windows close :

The windows were split exactly half way across the small moon in the center of the image

Well, this means that you have to pass yet another lottery when buying this screen. In addition to bad pixel lottery & dust, you also need to check for image persistence... :(

I see if I can get an image of my screen doing it sometime this week.

Anyone else able to check this out? Using the windows 10 clock on the lock screen or youtube video list before changing to a dark screen.

Also Daniel could you poke around and see if this is a known issue (for LG) for this screen or panel ?
