Hey all

Usually I'd be fine with specc'ing up a PC but I've been a bit out of touch with products lately so need OcUK assistance :D.

Brother has £350-£400 to spend on a video editing PC, and has asked me to build it for him. I know for sure he needs 16gb ram, 1TB hard drive and an SSD to make the pc snappy.

CPU wise I'm not too sure whether Intel or AMD??? I know Intel has integrated graphics, but wondering if even a £30 graphics card will help with the video editing? OR would an AMD be better and cheaper? (tight budget!)

Hope some of you can spec up - he just needs components specc'd, has kb mouse monitor already.

Thanks

Does he need an OS? I think AMD would probably be better as for video editing cores = speed so something like an FX 6300/8320 would be nice :)

EDIT: Assuming you don't need an OS of course;

You get all sorts of encoding/decoding and OpenGL/CL acceleration from this Kaveri APU.

The IGP is roughly equivalent to a R7 250.

No good.

No VRM cooling;) so the CPU will likely throttle;)

The Superflower PSU is also only 3amps less, yet Gold rated and better internals such as Japanese capacitors;)

Wow, wasn't expecting so many replies.

Will take a look now :).

Edit:

As the 7700K has an integrated GPU does that mean the number of cores (4) vs the 8 on the PileDriver will see noticeable decrease in performance?

Edit 2: What is AMDs latest line? FM2? Can't quite work it out lol!

FM2+ is newer than FM2, APUs/Athlons use FM2/FM2+, the FX line is AM3.

The FX6300 = 6 cores, it will be faster than the Kaveri.

Probably.

As long as the GFX card is like a R7 240/250 then thats roughly equivalent to the Kaveri.

P.S its AM3.
