If you don't want to build it, check here....

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Full_Systems.html

If you really want to build the system decide what the PC's uses will be primarily and focus the money in that area, if its general web browsing and chatting online you don't need a monster PC.

The full systems OCuk offer should give you a good template to work from if you want to do the building...

Thats the best I can come up with for the money. 20 quid change if you need a mouse and keyboard :)

but then again if its not going to be used for games does it really need a 6600gt?

Swap it for a passivley cooled 6600 and get a quiet freezer pro or something

going for a venice is a better idea . The problem is that 939 uses dual channel so you wont be getting full performance out of the RAM.

Graphics make no difference if you arent gaming. Grab something really low end like a 6200 or a x300 or something. That will save some cash and then you can try to squeze in an extra 512MB of ram. Failing that, 2x256 sticks would be ok, but not very future proof.

Cheers guys, mite just keep the 6600 and get 1gb ram dual channel of course and just spend extra bit.

Should be worth it, she doesn't game but not wanting something thats ultra slow and not going to last too long.

Integrated graphics (although its a 6200 basically so not that bad) but AM2 and with 1GB of RAM. The budget also has room for a graphics card if you want.

Energize, that RAM wont work with an AM2 CPU. Also that Hard drive is more expensive than the Samsung 80GB. Also the case has a pretty naff PSU.

It is going to be used for casual stuff so psu doesnt really matter, western digital drives are worth the extra £2, just change the ram to ddr2.

of course the psu still matters, go for chris's spec, although I'd personally swap the 1 x 512mb stick for the geil value 1gb kit.

Hardly, you dont need perfect rails when your not overclocking and barely doing anything with it. Theres nothing wrong with the psu its just not a brand name thats all.

Energize even under no load and non-overclocking conditions a bad PSU can No disguised swearing! your system up. What if they upgrade in the future? For the sake of less than £10 now they can get a case that looks nicer and has a far better PSU.

Also the samsung drives are very good. The western digital has no advantage over it.

Ocuk psus arent known the explode, I just prefer wd thats all, if they upgrade in the future theyre going to need a bigger than 350watt psu anyway, im not sure what psus ocuk use, but whenever I have got a psu in a case it has always been fsp, which are a fantastic brand.

cheers guys, goina buy it next month, when she gets pay slip. Think ill go for a decent psu and decent case. Might swap cases round for ma cheap one she'll never know :p
