With the BF3 release date looming I'm looking to upgrade my PC, the catch is that I don't have that much cash to do it with. My PC specs at the moment are:

CPU: Intel Q8400 @ 3.2GHz
Cooler: Corsair H50-1 w/ 2x 120mm Akasa Vipers
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3
Memory: 2x2GB OCZ Gold 1066MHz
GPU: ASUS 460GTX 1GB
SSD: Intel 120GB X25-M
HDD: 500GB Seagate Constellation 2.5"
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music (PCI)
PSU: Corsair HX 500W

What could I upgrade that would give me the most noticeable difference? Will I need a new PSU if I change anything? AFAIK 500W is pretty much the minimum required these days. I don't have any preference which manufacturer I use, so if an AMD-based system is the best way to go then that's fine.

All suggestions welcome chaps.

Cheers,

Kona

whats the main use of the PC?

its probably best to wait for the bta to be released s o you could see how your current system handles it.

you could upgrade the cpu/mb/ram now then once the new amd and nvidia cards are out in 3-6months get a new card and psu.

are you sure its not hx520w

Thanks for the suggestions chaps, unfortunately my motherboard isn't SLI capable :(

I'll wait for the beta to be released and think about what to do then, it might be a good idea to do the CPU/RAM/Mobo now though - hopefully my H50-1 has the correct fittings for the current gen sockets!

And fowler002, it is indeed a HX520 - I thought I'd typed 520W! My bad :)
