Hi,

First time poster here at overclockers....

Looking at building my new rig...

As the title surgests i have around £3500 to spend i can go a little higher for the right build...

I will be gaming (BF4, elite dangerus, dayz,GTA V when it arives), live streaming and video editing, overclocking...

I would like a 4k monitor... question is do i need the g-sync or am i ok with out it???... do i go x99 or z97???

Also needs to be watercooled and it will be on display so i want it to look cool...

I like the look of the msi gamer 9 (black/red, dragons)as it also has a streaming engin but not sure if i need this or if i will be fine without it...

So please help me decide and spec me a build... also any advice is appriceated...

Yeah few of my friends have done watercooling, so i will have help if needed...
its more the parts before the watercooling...i.e. x99 or z97 and then cpus and gpu..

i have read so many reviews from both sides and for what i want to do i just cant decide....

If you have that much money to blow on a build, better off buying a pre built system under a warranty for the whole thing. Then get a nice 4K monitor and enjoy.

That is very true, but still i want to be able to say yeah i built that from scratch and you cant be as picky as to how it looks

Customer service is superb at OCUK mate. If you want to swap things around with the spec just speak to them and they'll sort you out.

Thanks mate, think i will give them a call, see what they can do..
will post back once i decide....

Other builds and advice still welcome

Good on you. I don't know why people are trying to convince to go pre built. With that budget and those requirements you can build something stunning..

Do you want to try your hand at custom water cooling too??

Think i will check out the pre builds... but in the end i do enjoy building my own pc...

Yes this will be my first watercooled custom build...

Any advice???

If it came to it i was thinking of building then watercooling in a few months but thats if i go x99 as its a bit more cash.... so get main components for 3500 then get wc in a few month....

I can give you a spec list later (currently at work).

As advice on the speccing of the loop, just make it as simple as possible. No more than 2 radiators even if your cooling 2 GPUs and the CPU.

I can help with that later too..

Thanks mate that would be grate... i am also at work on my phone haha hence the poor spelling with my fat fingers....
i will be going to bed soon but i will have a look later today at your build...
thanks again

i would recommend waiting just a few weeks as i think there is something nice coming
and when you have that sort of money it would be criminal to have something built and in a matter of weeks it will be 2nd best.

I do agree with Mr Pie (above) it will be worth waiting to see what the AMD 3** cards are like before investing this kind of money.

With that in mind, i have done you a spec, leaving £1100ish aside for the GPU's and blocks.

We can eke the price don't a bit by dailing back the thick rads and maybe going for a less 'showy' pump/res combo, but for looks, this is top draw. Also gone for RAID0 SSD's for superfast (around 1000mbps) speeds.

I envisage the 360 in the top and the 240 at the front.

Thanks guys....
i think you are right and it is worth waiting..
i am more nividia than AMD but never say never and i would kick my self if i spent a grand on gpu and some killer AMD's come out...

I did have my eye on that red/black case already...
i may buy that to look at till then haha...
