What the best one to get?

Both are now on sale in the UK, the 3500x costs the same as a 3300x but its in stock.
for low end gaming 1080p with best to get

3100x or the 3500x?
4core 8thread or 6core 6thread?
 
Definitely the 3500x. It can be significantly faster in games. Also even though it's only got 6threads vs 8 it's still slightly faster in multi threaded applications.

If you can get a 3500X for the same price as a 3300X, do it (and tell me where!). The 3500X prices I've seen are £80 more than the 3300X.

Stock of all of these is painfully low atm, the 3100 and 3300X out of stock at most retailers. Just when I want to buy :rolleyes:
