Guys, is this something I could do myself? If so, what do I need?

If not, do you guys have any idea how much this would be to have it done professionally?

I have noticed on a few pics that there is what appears to be some marks left by dust, which I think is on the sensor as the mirror appears clean and the lens is too.

I also noticed in darker photos that I have what looks like a little blue pixel in 1 particular place (its always in exactly the same place).

Can I assume this is the sensor, and do you think cleaning would sort it?

Cheers.

Hmm, no replies. Either no-one knows how or are saying 'why don't you Google it you lazy git?' :p

FWIW I have Googled it but would prefer someone here with first hand experience.

Come on guys, surely someone here has had this done?

Start off trying to clear the dust off with a rocket blower.

If that doesn't clear it then a sensorklear pen is the next step up though this can also struggle with hard to clear dust that has stuck fast.

Finally step is a wet clean, basically getting fluid and pads to clean the sensor properly. Think PEC pads and Eclipse fluid have been recommended before for this, never done it myself yet though.

The blue pixel sounds like a hot pixel, guessing this shows up in dark photo's from doing long exposures? Don't think there is anything you can do about this

If the blue pixel appears during Long exposures then it could well be down to electrical interference or signal noise in the circuitry. Not all pixels on a sensor are perfect - they never will be, you can try turning on Long exposure noise reduction in your cameras menu, it may get rid of that pixel.

As for sensor cleaning - its a case of either taking it to a professional or doing it yourself.

Take a look at this site, since it has a large amount of information about the various types of cleaning:-

Thanks guys, I knew I would get some help and tips here :)

Its a camera I picked up 2nd hand off the MM, but I have noticed little specs appearing on my photos that are starting to annoy me, hence wanting to clean it properly.

Regarding the pixel, yep its dark photos with long exposure that highlights it. To be honest I hadn't noticed it before.

Will look into the suggestions, thanks a lot :)
