Hi all,

Building the wifes new PC, which is
ASUS P8Z77-V LX
I5 3570k
NH - U9B Premiumedition
8 GB Vengeance RAM

So I got it operational in windows and used the ASUS suite 2 to play around with some live action (change in windows) overclocking to see what I could get results wise.

So I found that at 1.15 volt in the CPU voltage, I could run @ 4.5 fine, I ran prime for 4 hours with no issues.

However the Asus suite wont let you make any changes made in the windows environment and keeps the Mobo defaulted *Turbo speeds* upon each reboot.

So I uninstall the application, and go to it the old fashioned way through BIOS.

Heres where things change, going into Bios setting Voltage to manual and 1.15 at 4.5 resulted in BSOD. I managed to get into windows on 1.2 but BSOD'd as soon as I ran Prime.

I set voltage back to offset and am now currently running Prime on a 4.0 fine and dandy.... Open hardware monitor tells me it's currently pulling 1.13 with a max of 1.84 temps are 60 or below (it's now hour two of testing).

Any idea of 1.) why I can't reproduce the test settings of asus suite through bios & 2.) any recommendations for the next steps? (I'd like to end up at somewhere between 4.2-4.5 below 80 on Prime)

I don't think anyone has had a 3570k do 4.5ghz at 1.15v. The normal range is 1.25v - 1.4v.

Thanks, is there any harm leaving the voltage at offset (other than it might use more than necessary and drive the temps up?

I was thinking of going for 4.5 and seeing what volts offset gets me or have I got that in reverse and I should go first for the volts then put to offset?
 
Below 80 on Prime???? Why is that important?? Is Prime the main use for your PC then??

No you can leave it on offset if you wish or tune voltage manually.

You can replicate the settings from AiSuite in Bios all the options are there.
 
did i read that right 1.84 vcore? that should be smoking cpus havnt needed that much since the althon xp days
 
Sorry I meant 1.184 with offset on running 4.0, open hardware monitor was saying 1.13 with a max of 1.184

I was aiming for below 80 on Prime just as a point to aim for. I.e. if it were under that much load it wouldn't cook. Also to allow me room for hot days etc (I.e. +10degree changes in ambient temp.) If you say I can go higher and go for under 90 then fine but I had hear 80 was a point to be concerned.
 
currently testing 4.5 with offset on, voltage reading between 1.32 and 1.408 temps under 75 ( but only a short time testing.)
 
TEmps now hitting 80-85 in spikes, currently under 80 again. When should I really get concerned and stop the test??
