I've just overclocked to 4.2ghz, temps all average around 50 degrees which is great, but when I run Prime95 all temps go between 95-100, but doesn't fail any tests.

My core voltage is 1.350 (the overclock wasn't stable so had to up it slightly).

This system was built around 4 years ago and this is the second OC I've done on it.

My CPU cooler is Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition C.

Thanks

1.35v is rather high for only 4.2ghz and will create a lot of heat and even more heat if running prime95 or other stress testers. your cpu probably isnt delidded so that isnt helping either.

I'll lower the temp and see what results I get. I kept getting BSOD on Prime95 so assumed it was that. Sorry, what do you mean by delidded?

that temp will do for stress testing, under normal usage it will be lower and fine. and delidding is removing the heatspreader on the cpu and replacing the thermal compound under it.
