3570k to 3770k query

Hey all.
I have a 3570k at 4.4ghz, mid range MSI motherboard. 4 x 4gb ram and a 290x (awaiting delivery of a 980ti).

My pro Googling suggest that an upgrade to a 3770k wouldn't do anything for me. As far as I can tell I'd gain hyperthreading. I'd only be gamimg with it.

My rig is a bit old (2014) and has served me well.

I'm fairly knowledgable on PC hardware.
Any opinions on the cpu would be appreciated .

The 3770k is the best my motherboard can take.
I would like a new Ryzen rig if gen 3 lives up to the hype.
I play new and old. I am only querying the cpu as my 980ti is in the post .

Thanks for posting back.
I think the 980ti will be a good upgrade for now. I game at 3440x1440 but just can't justify the newer GPU costs.
