Main issue seems to be it goes negative at sides and almost has a shine across it.

The shine is likely light sources but the negative is likely colour shift from the angle ie.. I'm sitting too close? If I slide my chair back It becomes OK, but not much movement is needed to get the negative colour back.

I'm debating whether I should return it to OCUK or get an IPS and decide what I like?

Issue is I've always had IPS but was attracted by price and black level.

I don't seem to have an issue with ghosting (as in I don't notice it)

What I don't want to do is return VA, get an IPS and not like the IPS

Yeah I didn't think it would be quite as obvious.
Not really sure what to do.

Other option is lg 34gk950f

VA doesn't have TN's colour "inversion".
But there's horizontal gamma shift called "black crush", which crushes dark shades into same black directly in front with shades becoming distinguishable again at spots away from center of you.

Though at more extreme angles it suffers more loss of colours than IPS.
Is it that colours becoming duller you're referring?

Best example I can give.

If you put the task bar vertically at side. The little colour tab you have at side goes from blue (normal) to invisible as you get closer to monitor. At normal distance when I move a little it looks green

Normal, half way (what I often see) and extreme angles

VA has more viewing angle dependant colours than IPS, but that kind is new.
Maybe there's something in that particular panel model...

Is that actual panel's image edge (and thin bezel just marketing scam) or is image somehow limited to that distance from edge?

Oh this is odd.
Yeah I don't think it's actually colour shift. The closer I get to the screen the more the edge of the screen seems to eat into the picture

I've NEVER seen this before.
I can notice it on the date. It gets eaten away. But the colours don't change apart from the extreme edge

Extreme angle.
Can see the colours don't shift much. But the actual picture disappears.

Here the 0 from 2020 is gone. This was an inch from the screen.

Id probably never had noticed without the little blue tab being so slim

That's definitely weird...
Maybe curvature causes something in panel's structure.
Can you see that phenomenon in other arares when looking from shallow enough angle, or does happen only at edge?

Only at the bezel edge. I'm assuming it's not a fault as it looks 'normal' as in it looks like the structure of the monitor

Does only seem to be on left and right.
