I havent had a console since the 1st playstation but the missus has just bought me a 360 for Christmas. After seeing so many stories of reliability issues is there anything else that is fundamentally dodgy besides the red ring thats already covered by the three year warrany. Is it worth forking out the £60 for the extra two years ??

Would this be from a well known high street electrical store?

Personally, I wouldn't spend more money on extended warranties. IIRC they're not all they're cracked up to be. Plus, I have a feeling that most electrical items are covered by 2 years warranty anyway - 1 year with the seller and 1 with the manufacturer.

Of course, I might be talking utter poop, but I'm sure I read it somewhere.

The reliability issues were the older, original batches of x-boxes I think too.

If your really paranoid about it then it maybe worth it for peace of mind, but I dont think its worth it in my opinion now Microsoft has extended the 3 red light warranty to 3 years. Dont forget, if anything else did go wrong after a year im sure you could force the redlights and send it back anyway. Not that I would advise you doing such a cheeky thing of course. ;)

I think the extended covers you for all faults, wheres the one MS tacked on earlier this year, is just for the red light issue; at least that is what I heard, on this forum come to think of it.

You have to send of within 10 days of purchase and they are supposed to send you some paperwork - paid for mine in April and still have nothing.

Scort.

They do crash a wee bit. Well mine has been, and its in a well ventilated area too :o.
Personally I wouldnt fork out the money for 2years extended warranty.

No its the extended warranty with MS, as said already its a slip that comes in the box and you have to return it within 10 days.
