I was playing footie on my 360 earlier this evening, had to pause it as the phone rang. After acouple of mins talking on the phone I saw my monitor go to a black screen and heard then fan on my 360 die...

Wondering what was up had a look and yep 360 has turned off but has 3 red lights flashing :( it took about 6 attempts for me to eject the disc and then I switched off and booted.

Powered up an now doesn't show the 3 red lights  is my machine about to die ?? was that a warning ??

Its still under 1 year old think I got it end of August 06 so if its going to die would rather it be now than after the years up so I can get an exchange.

I've had a similar problem, turned it on a few times red lights, turned it back off a few times then it just started working, been fine since then and that was 5 weeks ago.

Hopefully it will be OK then, I've just had it running for an hour and no problems so far. I'm going to get an elite when they arrive over here so don't want this one to die out of warranty...

I paused a dvd one for for an hour or something and when i went to un-pause it, it gave me 3 red lights, just rebooted and it was fine!

mine done exactly the same the other week, was playing tdu got 3red lights, then was fine for about a week. now its completely packed in everytime i turn it on its straight to 3 red lights

Well today its been OK had it running for a couple hours split in 2 sessions. Just put it on now again and still OK not nice waiting for it to fail again though...

If it goes and I return it to the retailer and get a new console, will it come with a new warranty?

Yes, warrenty for the 360 is from the manufactured date on the console.

You sure about that? Seems a bit unfair that you'd only get about 10 months of warrenty considering a newly made Xbox360 would take about 60 days to get from plant to owner in the UK.

I sent my console back to the shop and the warranty is still from the time i got the first console.

Some places may offer diffrent warrantys tho.

Well Microsoft always ask you when you bought it so they probably cut some slack if the manufacturer date is older.

I think that was your problem? I would go over the park and play footie in future, 360's are not for standing on, letting alone playing footie on :)

I reckon it just got hot and turned it self off like was said above... unless you where ACTUALLY playing footie on it?

Oooh, I bet they will be dropping like flies if we have a hot summer... I might refrain from turning mine on!!!

I certainly won't be folding on my PS3 atleast, gets hot enough in my room and we're barely into the summer yet.

well its been a week since this happened and its still running at the moment and not had any repeat performances of the red lights

Mine's just died for the second time. 3 red lights again.
If i've had it replaced by Microsoft does it mean it has it's warranty extended or will it still be from my original purchase date?
I bought my 360 well over a year ago now.
Anyone got any advice?
