360 batteries life span

Hiya, just had a quick google and says it must be on
when you turn the 360 off while the play n charge is plugged in, it goes into a low power mode - you can just hear the fans still turning if you pop your ear nice and close.

Standard Everready NiMH rechargables here. Much cheaper than a play and charge kit, more universal (ideal for my camera as well ;) ) and less hassle imho..

You can pick up a 4 pack and a charger for under a tenner from some places, cheaper than a play and charge kit

The play and charge kit is silly.

I bought a decent 4 x AA battery charger for about £7 which came with 4 x 2500mAh batteries, and 4 rechargeable 2800mAh energizer batteries for £3.

I just use the energizers though.

When one set dies, I put the charged set in, put the dead set on charge for 20 hours, and so on.

I'm never without charged batteries and they last much longer.
It's not silly at all, I know if my controller dies during online Halo 3 I'd rather just slip in the plug and play kit than take out batteries.

Not like it costs £30 or anything it's priced well too.

Theres no way I could sleep with mine in the lower power state

Really, really fussy sleeper?

Or the fans must be unusually loud, I consider my 360 fairly quiet even when playing DVDs.

Would do my head in too, it's like having an office fan on.

I've always thought mine was fairly quiet in normal operation, i.e. it doesn't drown out the Tv. But I thought everyones was the same volume when in low power mode, evidently not though.

I don't even know why the fans even need to spin to be honest in low power state, the cpu and gpu aren't doing anything as it's effectively off!

I'd have got rid of that 360 then, glad mines quiet.

I've had had 2, the first one was horrific, reason I traded it in as I thought it would be dead anytime soon. The GF's 360 is the same (both hers and mine were manufactured in Feb 2007)

same, i sleep with mine in the room fine, far far quieter than at the dashboard
To be fair I sleep through lots anyway, always got a ceiling fan on full as well as my desk fan and my PC.

Xbox 360 noise is nothing at all to me anymore. :p

My fans run at a much much lower speed when the 360 is just charging the controllers, it still bugs me though so I just plug the charger into my PC usb slot, job done with less electronics on. :)

that works? i knew it did with PS3 but never actually got round to trying it with my 360.

Yup, just tried it as I didn't know it worked either!

Thanks chaps :D
