Turned my 360 on today and the edges of certain things on the NXE were bright blue with some shimmering blue dots in other places, after turning it off and on again it was gone, is this a first symptom of possible failure ?

I bought this at the beginning of April 2007 so I am very worried that it is aiming to fail just out of the three years...

Ring Microsoft now & tell them it's shafted itself, Job done Guv'nor.
Despite what you read the Microsoft ladies are Lovely.

Do some lengthy gaming sessions on it.

The common cause is to do with gpu cooling (hence the x clamp fix). If you can catalyse the fail before your warranty is up, great. If not then the xclamp fix is fairly easy to perform.

The symptoms you describe are the initial stages of GPU failure. It will begin to happen more often, leading eventually to a total failure of the GPU output (though somewhat annoyingly, every other feature of the machine continues to work!).

Mine has never had a problem, i've x-clamped it months ago anyway. Yesterday i bought ff13 and played it for 2hrs with no problems.

Today i turn it on and there are 3 red lights flashing away and the console is not displaying any image on the screen.

Is this the GPU failed? Is it likley that its dead beyond repair if it already has been x-clamped?

Anything i can try? :(

Heatgun/oven fix time. It might only last a few weeks, it might still be ok 12 months down the line.
