I guess my xbox 360 has finally given up, Now when I try to use it i can sometimes get to a game but most of the time it crashes when starting up. Then displays the 3 red lights.

I bought this from a shop around early January 2006. I've lost the receipt though.

Will I be able to get it replaced through Microsoft? Or will I have to buy a new one?

Thanks

Seeing as you've lost your reciept, you have 3 choices.

1. Pay Microsoft £70 - £90 for a refurbed console. I'm not too sure on the price, but its less than £100.
2. Send it away to be repaired by a company such as GT Electronics, for £50 plus postage.
3. Buy a new console - most likely a Core version if you already have a premium.

I went with option 2, as my 360 had a replacement black case on it. Unfortunately, it was beyond repair, so they offered to buy it for £50 to use as spare parts. Seeing as the case was only 2 weeks old and cost me £40, i decided to decline their offer and they sent it back. I went and bought a new Core version with memory pack and Viva pinata for £199, as it was the best offer i could find.

Ah, didn't actually read the bit that said it was passed warranty period, I'd try to get a cheap console off an auction site (can find them pretty damn cheap withoutg cables or anything).
