[360] - Capcom Dead Rising webby is up

rofl@throwing melons at zombies :D Yeah, thought my connection was broke when I went there because it took so long. The Las Vegas trailer is the best and most hilarious one though!

Really can't wait for this game... was the first game I pre-Ordered way back in September :D

Keeps getting put back though :(

It looks pretty good - and as a huge Romero fan, it should play as a nice homage to him.

The two things that concern me though (and they are only minor gripes) is that: a) it looks a bit too bright & colourful to me - could have done with a bit more grime!, and b) it looks like the zombie masses are made up of only 5 or 6 different models - could this get a bit annoying/repetitive?

I don't think it will get annoying or repetitive seeing as there are so many different weapons and ways to kill them.

Golf clubs look quite funny as do puting buckets and cones on the zombies heads so they can't see... Also quite intrigued as to how the human? on the vehicle with the gun will feature, can you command the other humans or do they just do whatever they want?

Right from the game's outset you'll be aware that a helicopter is going to drop by the mall and save you after 72 hours. In the meantime, it's your job to find out what you can, save hapless humans and make your way to the rendezvous point before the timer runs out. Though the game tracks your time, that doesn't mean it takes an actual 72 hours to finish. According to Capcom's Heiji Inafune who's working with both Dead Rising and Lost Planet, the game will take somewhere around two, possibly three hours to beat if you just stood still and didn't attempt any sidequests. Yes, you read that correctly.

While the game's staggeringly short length may surprise some, Capcom designed Dead Rising to be played through many, many times. The ultimate goal of the game is to discover the secret of the zombies and save as many people as possible, though you're in no way required to do so. Designed to be totally open-ended, Dead Rising allows you to investigate whatever you want, kill whoever you want and finish the game by completing whatever objectives you saw fit. Despite the hilarity of peppering innocent humans with shotgun blasts, you're not going to get the best ending without at least helping some of them. Many of the side quests yield information important to your investigation, and killing certain foes will be the only way to access areas you'll need to visit to get the answers you seek. Figuring out how to amass all the clues and get the best ending is the core gameplay mechanic of Dead Rising, and what should keep you slaughtering zombies over and over again.

Sounds good. I like the way it's a short game, designed to be played through many times, and how the story is discovered by the quests you choose to attempt.

It's kind of like GTA series where you've got the main story mission but plenty of side missions to do if you wish. Lets hope that the side missions really are interesting though as this really does look a promising game and I would hate it to be spoilt by such a short mission time.

I think I know this already (though can't remember where I heard this), Dead Rising is single player only. If this is true then it's a shame. This game would really benifit from Co-op play where you could play via LAN or LIVE!, or Multiplayer modes like Zombies vs Humans etc.

Been on my pre-order list from the moment I ordered the 360 on August 17th last year.

That does look fantastic, really really looking forward to this game.

Graphically, it doesn't look that good, but I suppose you've got to make a sacrifice if you're putting that many zombies on screen at once. I'll certainly be getting this if it lives up to my expectations.

Now 2+player would be interesting, tag team style killing etc :D :D

Does this game remind anyone else of State of Emergency?

I think the some of the developers who worked on State of Emergency are working on Dead Rising (though I may be wrong).

Both are similar in the way that they both take place within shopping malls, there are large numbers of enemy and the style of combat.
