Hey guys,

I would like some sort of charge kit for my 2 360 controllers, is it best to just pay the 30 quid and get 2 official kits or are third party kits like the venom ones any good? since thats a twin kit for £9.99 its a lot more bang for buck?

Anyone got experiences of both?

I've used the official ones and tbh they're inferior to just buying some decent rechargeable batteries and a quick charger (i've got one that will fully charge 4 batteries in less than 10 mins, cost around £25 for it and the batteries). They last multiple times longer per charge and i've heard of the official play n charge kits giving up the ghost quite a lot. Ok you lose the ability to charge while playing, but i have a spare set of batteries that i keep fully charged and then swap out when the set i'm using runs out and then charge that set on the side. I only have to swap them out once every couple of weeks, possibly once a week if i'm playing some serious sessions.

Totally agree. Got some Duracell's rechargeables and they last 3 times as long both in charge performance and long term. Just get extra sets and keep them charged and close to hand.

I recently bought a 360 and decided to buy some decent Energizer high capacity rechargeable batteries instead of the play and charge kits. I must have played for about 15 hours so far and there's still 3 bars left on the battery indicator.

These seem to be a bit hit and miss. Personally I can't praise them enough, some people seem to have nothing but problems and I have seen forum posts blaming the USB connection and there are quite simple but daft workarounds.

For me the benefit of them is when you run out of charge that you can plug it in via USB and continue playing without running around the house looking for batteries or having to charge some.

When they work, they are possibly the best peripheral for the 360. I would also only stick with official ones.

out of interest, unlike the ps3 can the controllers charge when the 360 is off?

Sort of, when you have the play and charge kit charging if you switch the 360 off it goes into a 'low power state', the fans continue to spin at a low speed etc, then once the controller is charged the console switches itself off.

Hmm, must admit I prefer the sound of the official stuff, however if it holds a poor charge and is a bit hit and miss as to how well it works then I might just get a Uniross Easy Charger and some AA 2700mAh Performance Batteries...

Anyone used these or am i better off going with Duracell or Energizer?
