Halo 3 is peer to peer and that just passes hosting onto the next best connection. There is a patch in the works (has been since before christmas) and they've never given a date, only pretty much saying it'll be done when it's done.
I haven't heard anything about the patch containing fixes for connectivity though - only extra cams for the kill cam (ie from airstrikes and grenades) and a few other things.
The problems you were having is because the game's multiplayer is essentially peer-to-peer, so obviously if the host leaves the whole game is cancelled. There is no software fix.
They should also sort out those hackers who have a minus kd ratio and stupid high scores.
I hope in this patch they will filter out all those god dam yanks, no disrespect to the minority of them who are all right. And they bring lag to the game.

Whilst you're there, why not just block everyone? Maybe what you want is the SP campaign.
or any problems relating to Americans.
Now are you sure about that.
Well I disagree, I can certainly tell a difference, especially with the bullet reg, when playing with friends in the UK, compared to playing with random people from other countries.
