Ok we have had many 360 VGA vs component threads .. so i dont want to get into another one of those.. :)

BUT i have long been a fan of 360 via VGA .. on my old Panasonic EDTV Plasma it looked a lot sharper.. On my dell monitor it looked better.. It even looked better on my LG 32LC2DB 32" LCD.. (especially with Kreee's DTV options)

However i just got myself a Panasonic 32LXD70 32" LCD (as a replacement for the LG) and tried component out vs VGA for old times sake.

Ohhhhhhh Myyyyyy Goddd.. On component the Xbox 360 is sooooo Sharp.. perfect 1:1 pixel mapping full 100mhz refresh and amazing colours.. The VGA just dosnt get a look in..

This may very well just be down to the V-real 2 engine this display uses but i am truly converted. I was very impressed indeed.. So anyone with the same display i strongly advice you get the component lead plugged in..

that is all :)

VGA fan here, wins hands down on the sets i've tried it on, but now my primary viewing is on my 226BW so its VGA without choice.

100mhz refresh? Since when did LCD refresh at that rate? :p
It's the new buzzword in HDTV.

nintenjo, that set has a poor VGA connection and an amazing component one, so that's probably why your seeing such a great picture via component. Good choice matey :)

Im a VGA fan now. I personally didnt see the need to purchase the extra cable unless I actually needed, but someone borrowed me one and I must say - text in my opinion looks a whole lot better and Oblivion literally looks like a totally different game. Thats me running on a Samsung LE32R73BD

That would be 120Hz, not 100 millihertz ;) Surely?

Anyone who says VGA is better than component is an idiot :p

Remember, folks, every TV is different.

theres physical limitations that pretty much do make certain connections simply better than others. however thats the perfect connection.

vga on lcd monitors with dvi connectors normally look like crap because the panel has a decent dvi connector and 2nd rate poor quality vga - digital convertor chips and cheapo connector because 99% of the people who buy the monitor will use dvi and dvi only so the money spent on the vga port is a waste for 99% of users.

vga on a vga only monitor would mostly(cept some stupidly cheap budget screen) have a very good quality vga connector and signal convertor chip and would offer a way way nicer picture compared to the vga on a different screen.

quite frankly a decent vga can look every bit as good as a dvi connector, just 99% of screens you can't do a direct comparison due to the quality difference of connectors on the panel.

so you're just in this situation, for whatever reason the manu decided that the component for that model would get the best quality parts and the vga is secondary and their to pad out the specs list and make it look better.

Was a VGA fan for a long time but then discovered that with Component the vsync issues almost go away and the color is a lot better. Picture is slightly less sharp but can live with it for the vsync alone!!

Must be something about the VGA input on some HDTVs expecting a PC VGA so syncing to say 59.4 instead of 60.0 or whatever.

Exactly my meaning :)

Simple saying that one is better than the other doesn't stand up unless you also state what TV you're using.

Recently switched back to VGA since getting my Samsung R74.

Its a lot better since the update, less blurry and games looks better. Halo 3 especially, it seems "zoomed out" and everything looks higher resolution.

Using expanded does help quite a bit.

Ill probably switch back to component in time like i always do.

That's because you don't lose the edge of the image to overscan liek you do 99% of the time with component.

Just been playing a bit more on GRAW 2 and GOW and definately does look better, sure they have done something something else for VGA besides the expanded colours though, just seems much sharper than last time i used VGA.

Found something annoying now though regarding VGA, more to do with my TV though.

My TV lets me have different Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness and Colour on each different input e.g Component, Composite, HDMI etc but ive just noticed that VGA and HDMI share the same values which sucks, so everytime i go on my PS3 i have to change the colour and brightness settings.

Is there anything i can do? Is there a firmware upgrade for the TV?
