360 controller flashing when PC is off..

Got a wireless 360 controller for Windows. When I shutdown the PC the controller keeps flashing (All four segments) and won't stop.

The only way I can stop it is to un-clip the batteries.

Is there another way to stop it flashing?

I always slightly unclick the batteries then push them back on, no biggy really

This.

The receiver doesn't send a shut down message to the controller like the console does. Don't think there's anything you can do about it.

Push the button in at the back once the same one you use to open the battery compartment

Or if your within a GFWL title just hold the Guide button down for a few secs you get an onscreen message about turning it off!

Someone wrote this years ago it allows you to turn off via software the official site is no longer active this is the cached archive site on google.

Google for "Xbox Controller Manager" that is the name of the PC app.

I think uncliping the batteries is the only way to stop this. With my xbox 360 it used to do this in certain circumstances.

Yep, I quickly release the battery pack a touch and clip it back in.

Oh i get it this is because you have the charge by usb function on in your bios turn that off and you are good to go.

Work via wires myself.

My wireless controller switches itself off if not used.

You can Windows disconnecting the device.

Windows 7, I usually just leave it flashing lol.
