I just dropped my controller onto the console and it's totally ruined my COD4 disc. :o:( My own fault, pretty silly thing to do but it isn't the first time! It's happened before with Gears of War, which HMV reluctantly exchanged, that time it wasn't my fault however, the console just decided it would have a good scratch at the first game I put in it.

Anyone else had their discs ruined?

Had Rockband ruined tried to polish it but had no joy so had to buy another one. That was my own fault as I knocked my 360 with the guitar. forza 2 got scratched badly but after a while polishing it it came back to life. Fifa 09 got scratched but I used tooth paste on that and it works perfect.

i had it done to lost planet but it was my fault, lay it down from standing on end mid game. was a bad scratch and crashed at same point every time, lucky i have a mate who works in block buster and he did the scratch repair thing and now it works fine.

I got toothpaste, makes sure it is gel or non abrasive and just polish it into the scratch. I thought wtf as well but tried it on Fifa as a bit of gamble but it works perfectly now. Since used it on a couple of music CDs and they work now as well.

my Fable2 disc started to look a bit ropey and some of the areas wouldn't load and sometimes hung.

I used Autoglym super resin polish on it and now its back to how it should be :)

Interesting....my copy of Burnout Revenge thinks its Halo 3 with a nice big halo type ring scratched into it.

Autoglym super resin polish and toothpaste, anyone got any other possible ideas that may repair it?

I've had 2 discs ruined, console was never moved while on, sitting in my tv centre.

Basically Microsoft, and the shop I bought the 360 from didn't want to hear about it, neither would acknnowledge the console could scratch disks while stationary.

I really do think the console is an engineered piece of ****, but I do love the games so.

They really ought to have brought out an Xbox Slim or something with all these hardware issues properly engineered away to coincide with the NXE. Ah, well. Back to my dream world.

I managed to knock my console the other day and heard a terrifying screatching noise, it had my friend's fable2 disc in so i was horrified at the noise. But luckily it hadn't marked the disc whatsoever. It wasn't a small jolt ither, knocked it off the game case it was resting on and it tilted a good inch downwards.

I've been so lucky with my box, over two years old now with no red ring of death and the disc read errors have seemingly fixed themselves.
