Wanna run this one past you guys. I have the 360 connected to a dell 2405 via component. Its been fine for ages.

My problem now is when i turn the 360 on I have lines running through the display as show in the pictures. Look carefully you can see the bands.

My 2405 is also connected to the pc via DVI. With the pc on the bands go away. Shut down the pc and the bands come back again. If i disconnect and restart the problem goes away buy then comes back again after a while.

Does this sound like a cable problem to you or problem with the monitor switching between sources????

Now first off, I am no audio/visual expert, but my guess would be a cable problem. Know anyone with a 360 near you? Would be worth a shot swapping cables, just to see.

As always, I could be completely wrong so :o but it would rule one thing out.

i concour, looks a lot like a cable issue - all plugged in nice and tight?

Yeah ive reseated again and its fine for now, just gonna turn off the pc again to see if it happens again. Ive asked a mate to borrow his cable, he hardly uses his. But its been fine for ages why would a cable that isnt ever moved just give up?

Looks like interference to me.

What from another cable??? I suppose if it happens again I could try a complete reroute of the component cable to make sure its not near anything else. A speaker sits underneath the monitor but thats been fine for months.

Not from another cable, from something that emits em radiation, like a speaker or computer. ;)

What happens with the 360 in the VGA port and the PC in the DVI? get the same effect?

Hmmm dont have a VGA cable for the 360, I may have to try that.

Energize Ive tried it with the speakers turned off and out of the way, it still did it and the pc is 3 feet away. It weird that its only just started doing it, to start with I thought it was the hot weather ;)

Does the vga one have optical input as well??

yes. that does look like interference to me I get exactly the same thing when I have my TV on which is about 3 inches above my PC monitor. Turn my TV off, no problem.

its not going to be something close to yer 360 though I dont think it will be something close to yer montior, hell even a mobile phone could potentially do that to it.

You could buy a vga cable and use a dvi adaptor to eliminate interference If you cant figure out whats causing it. You could try wrapping the cables in lots of tin foil! :p

Is it next to a wall, perhaps something on the otherside of the wall is causing it?

Ok next time it does it I will have a fiddle about moving and turning stuff off. Its just weird to me that its not happening when the pc is turned on, it happens when it goes off.

As others can tell you with the 2405 and both on you lose some colour but ive never had this happen on turn off. Nothing the other side of the wall apart from air ;)

Perhaps when the pcs off its outputting some weird signal? Try unplugging the pcs dvi cable and see if that works.

Unplugged the dvi and disconnected the power to the pc, still does it.
