Ok genuine question here. Although I have a PS3 my daughter has decided that she wants a 360 for her birthday (even though their banned from my house) I obviously don't want to dissapoint her...

Right my question is how big is DLC, the reason for asking is if I do get her a 360 it will only be a premium (20gig HD) but I am concerned that she will need a larger HD (120gig) sooner rather than later due to developers offering DLC.

So for those who have DLC, i.e GOW, R6, Oblivion etc how big are these files because there's no way I want to pay another £130 next year for the bigger HD?

R6 vegas has 2 DLC packs avaliable, for free i might add, at 700MB a pop.
GOW has 1 free that I have and its 99MB.

The arcade titles are small, normally not more than 20MB.

20GB is fine, honestly. I play lots of games, download lots of trailers/demos and 20gig is great.

I have room for about two demos (depending on size) but then i keep quite a lot of music and videos on my 360, most other people will have planty of room left i imagine.

I have to say I'm not convinced at all that 20gig is enough especially when you lose 7odd gig for system resources or whatever it is, especially with GTA4 having DLC and possibly UT3 also?

Anyway what will she lose if I get her a Core version now, and then pick her up the 120 gig HD for Xmas.

The only bad point is you can't have many demos at the same time and have to delete one to download another.

Yeah but if you like the demo, you buy the game. So you can delete the demo.
If you hate the demo, you delete it.

:D

When is her birthday?

The elite with HDMI and 120gb HD is out this month.

Her birthday is at the end of this month but I won't be spending £300+ on her just for her birthday.

A premium is £280 with no games, £300 with a few, the elite is £330 with no games, hardly a huge difference.

You get 13GB of space. Arcade games are tiny, demos are anything from 500MB to 1.3GB and the biggest downloadable content I've seen is Shivering Isles (which I got) and is about 1GB. I'm far from your average user and even had 7 800MB episodes of Viva Pinata on my HD at one point (for my little girl you understand ;) and I've never had a problem with space.

I really wouldn't get a Core, you'll still have to buy a memory card and HD lead and it gives you no room to download anything.

The extra space on the Elite is for when they roll out the video marketplace in Europeland at the end of this year as HD movies (720p) are about 7GB.

And Xbox 1 games won't work, and it'll cost him £320 for a core with no games and a 120gb HD at christmas, just £10 short of an elite.

Just a 5 minute look found me a Premium with FlatOut Ultimate Carnage & Command & Conquer for £260 delivered online. There are some good deals if you shop around.

The hard drive on the Premium may be 20GB, but we only have access to just over 12GB of that (atleast it was on mine). Something to consider.
