just thought i'd drop in and add my name to the list of 360 elite owners around here. Picked up Halo 3 and Forza 2 as part of the package :)

OK so I'm thinking of jumping on xbox live over the weekend but i'm stuck at the end of a 512mb adsl line here. Any idea if the online game performance is going to be ok, or should I just wait until my nice 10mb wireless is installed?

10meg wireless? is that still going to be connected to the next via the 1/2meg dsl line?

I have a 1/2 meg connection and have no issues except downloading demos takes a long time but online play is no different to my mates 14meg be* line

You only need a good upload speed if you plan on hosting online matches in games so people don't lag. Download speed does not really matter.

As long as it's a pretty reliable connection you should be fine! Its when you have a bad isp that you will start to lag out in games and p*** people off!

So is this connection supplied over wireless via a local ISP, or do you mean your getting 10mbit cable and using wireless to the 360 from your router?

As some others have said, it is the upload speed that is normally the limiting factor, and since your connection is probably 512/256 down/up you should be okay. It might not be great on all games, but it'll do just fine.

We have an ISP on the Isle of Wight who supply wireless broadband. They are currently testing 10mb connections and because I got pally with them, I'm going to be testing it with them :)

I downloaded the NHL 08 demo overnight, that's a nice feature allowing you to background download :)

oh and for the person who asked it was £359 for the package and I purchased the VGA cable to go with it so I can hook it up to my 22" widescreen TFT :)

While more bandwidth as wireless it could introduce more lag/latency
