360 error? 4 Lights (not red!)

Have recently had the following come up on my beloved 360 elite:

4 green/yellow lights (as if there are 4 controllers connected) on constantly and the 360 powers on fine and can access installed games/vids/etc on the HDD and play HD-DVDs no probs. However, if I insert any media into the dvd-drive on the base unit it does not read it.

I used my google-fu skills but came up with nowt - has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know just what is going on?

Does your drive say its open when its closed and your on the dashboard? If it does then your drivers broken, either that or you have recently swapped the drive out without matching the firmware key.

What happens when you put a game in? Does it say "play DVD",indicating a bad DVD key?

Drive doesn't recognise there being a disc present. Once you place one in it autoruns but says you need to place the disc into an xbox 360 to play it(!?!?)

Deffo no loose cables/connections - removed and replaced them and still has the same 4 green lights present.

Do you have any USB devices connected to it? try taking them all out and boot with just the A/V cable connected.

Got a Wireless adaptor, Scene It IR Receiver and HD-DVD Drive connected via USB - am away training this week and back tomorrow so will try your suggestion out then.
