360 Freeze

Hi All,

I turned on my 360 last night, First time in a few weeks. I was asked to update the 360, which i rightfully did. Now the 360 will not get past the loading 360 screen, it freezes. Even after a 12hr wait. Is this something "common" after the update ? When was the last update released. All was fine prior to the update. I am most terribly vexxed.

What colour lights are on the quadrant at the front, and what are they doing? (static/flashing etc).

Is the update you are talking about the new Dashboard update or some game update you got when loading up a game?

Might be dead, apparently there's something dodge about this update involving the bootloader.

Dangerous Xbox 360 Update Killing Homebrew

On Tuesday, Microsoft has released an Xbox 360 software update that overwrites the first stage bootloader of the system. Although there have been numerous software updates for Microsoft's gaming console in the past, this is the first one to overwrite the vital boot block. Any failure while updating this will break the Xbox 360 beyond repair. Statistics from other systems have shown that about one in a thousand bootloader updates goes wrong, and unless Microsoft has a novel solution to this problem, this puts tens of thousands of Xboxes at risk.

Might be a good idea to give MS a ring and see what they say:
