I was in the middle of a game of MW3 and my controller went flat. When trying to plug it in I knocked the 360 and the disc started to make a kind of grinding? noise and stopped. Fair enough.

When I restarted it I managed to get to the find a match page and then I get an error that the disc is unreadable. I've tried the usual of restarting the console and cleaning the disk but no luck. Other games work fine.

Have I buggered the disc or is there a fix?

I hardly touched the dam thing, talk about fragile.

Borrow someone else's disc to install it to HDD (assuming yours won't complete the installation) then use yours purely to verify you own the game, will most likely still read it for that.

Kinda new to xbox, only bought one a few months ago for MW3 and Forza.

Dont the games have to be installed to play? I wa inhe middle of a game.

I'll try to reinstall

You dont have to install the game to play on xbox. Its something you do so the disk isnt constantly spinning. If the disk has a ring mark on it then you can get it polished at a game shop for a few quid and it should work fine again.

No, most just play straight off the disk.

You highlight the game and press Y (i think) for details, the select install.

If it doesn't install the do what wedgie said and borrow another to install, then yours should play.

It ain't got a ring mark, though it does have a slight scratch running acroos it. If my cds/dvds were fragile like this I wouldn't be able to view any of them. This is .......

do you have your xbox stood up or led down, if stood up the slightest movement with cause radial marks on the discs. once my old fat xbox wouldnt read discs so i was told to open the tray and hold it open with one hand and press the eject button to pull the tray back in (but hold it open) then let go, press it again and now its read every disc since

try to install it, if not then you can probably check the manual see if they offer a replacement disc for £10 or so, best not to move the console when a game is spinning inside though, but you are not the first to do it :)

I've tried to reinstall, but it gets to 43% and stops. Can't beleve some was designed like this to be so fragile.

They best give me a replacement disk for cheap, I ain't paying £40 for another copy.

guess i could. Just spoken to Activision though and they will replace the disk if i can provide proof of purchase. I can't find the receipt atm though :(
