Right, been suffering withdrawal symptoms since theres sod all coming out until next month. Anyway I went to town today to get some stuff. I popped into woolies and looked at RR6 and Full Auto - the only games that appeal to me atm. Both are a daft £49.99. Sod that I think, then I look at Kameo and Most Wanted - they're both £44.99? I look at Condemned and its £49.99.

It's like this in er another popular high street games retailer, the pricing makes no sense. Why is it like this anyway? Never understood it and its not limited to consoles either. Ended up walking home empty handed and rightly so.

go tescos instead norms £40 :P

spose its down to devlopers setting 1 price and there being some sort of extra charge on top of that then the shops %

the point of the games costing more (and to other next gen consoles) are the fact that its the time developers have spent making these games.

the more sophisticated the consoles and hardware is, the longer it will get a game to look its best, thats why its costing more is for the time and effort that the designers have put in.

plus gaming has become such a big thing, they can charge whatever they want, since people are still going to buy no matter what.

Yup, I know about the online stores, its just I wanted a game right away today given that I return to work on wednesday. Totally forgot about superstores though. I doubt the pricing is determined by the cost and dev time of the game, because from what I can see, its key companies like Activision and EA that have higher priced games over the rest. Theres just a lot of inconsist pricing out there and its weird.

Gonna stick to MM and online retailers for games now anyway. Just need to be patient until March and thats hard enough :p

The average cost of a new game to a shop fluctates around £23-£24 during the course of the year (source: ELSPA / Chart-Track and Internet Media, as printed recently in EDGE).

The cost to consumer then depends on just how much profit the shops whack on top :D

i brought all mine 2nd from them shops that just sell 2nd hand games & video's, picked up PGR3, RR6 and Kameo for £30 each, even i couldn't tell that they been used before so a bargin, they always seem to have latest titles in also

They don't vary "so much" though. Certainly no more than any on any other platform :) PC, PS2, Xbox etc games' prices vary by more than 360 games I'd say. Just use a site like GamesTracker to find the cheapest shop (not that GT is exhaustive) and ebay etc.
