360 Getting blu-ray drive addon.

Not allowed to have animated sigs here I'm afraid. It also breaks the 20KB maximum filesize rule. Sort it before a Don smites you down!

Regarding Blu-Ray for 360, it's very unlikely that'll happen, they would get totally slated by the public and the media. They would have to be absolutely certain Blu-Ray was going to totally whoop the HD war which wouldn't happen for a while anyway.

This is BS, Microsoft support the HD format and nothing else.

just what i was thinking its bs, why would m$ bring out a blu ray addon when the new format wars havent even started yet

I mentioned a while ago that having Blu-Ray on the Xbox360 wasn't beyond the realms of possibility because HD-DVD wasn't a Microsoft product, but a Toshiba one.
Having Blu-Ray on Xbox360 would benefit both Microsoft and Sony.

Took you long enough to get here :p

Don't think the mods are bothering :(

Lol, I always loved how people used dwindling HD DVD sales to attack MS. MS support whichever will bring them the most money (i.e. both) and weren't shortsighted enough to support just one :)

next it will be Xbox360 to be have internal power supply, bluetooth and Wi Fi built in!
But the PS3 still won't have any games worth mentioning ;)

Nobody can say one is dominating the other at this early stage, whoever does currently is blowing hot air. Essentially, it's the movie studio's that are going to decide and now that the porn industry has chosen hd-dvd that a very big portion of the market. They did afterall influence the betamax/vhs battle.

who buys porn dvds now when it all free on the net and some not so free?

Lots of people. Clearly.
You could argue "Who buys DVD's with downloadable movies freely available", fact is, it's a massive market.

Porn sales of DVD's and mag's have been droping very fast with most companies going staight to their customers though the internet.

But yes you are right about the sudios will deside who will win and the odds are really agaist HD-DVD with only 1 backing HD-DVD and Blu-ray have 5 and the the big major player siting on the fence pushing out there total DVD (WB)

I totally agree, Blu-Ray has the big guns.
Problem is, every time I look at the list of movies readily available on both formats I honestly think HD-DVD has the far superior selection.

I only have Blu-Ray though :(.

Thats becuase WB The bigest player have been doing more HD-DVD as HD-DVD was out the door first. But WB plan to up their Total-DVD (dual disk)Out in late 2007. Lord of the ring and so on is planed for HD-dvd first but WB have said they working on it in Total HD.

Not to mention sony own a lot of the studios Like MGM, Tristar and have close links with MGM-Disney

Lol, will it be stackable with the HD-DVD drive? :p

No Xbox Home, then you can use any hard drive instead of the Microsoft only one. Then Live goes free and the console gets a higher price tag :P

Its not impossible that MS could release a br player for the X360 - but not in the time frame stated , the battle wont have even really reached the highstreet in most regions before Christmas time and more likely well into 2008 before it becomes significant.

Im not sure why the PS3 isnt able to support an external hd-dvd drive though if Sony wanted it to (of course they dont want to right now but its relatively simple for them to enable it in a bios/firmware update in the future as codecs are similar to br)

I currently have about 20 hd discs on each format and they are as good as each other when you get a decent transfer (but thats all too uncommon in some cases)

Microsoft have said from day one that they will support whichever format is most popular, they think HD is the better format but thats not going to stop them from having a BD player if thats whats popular.

Its not really a problem for MS the VC1 encryption is theirs both BD and HD use it (BD lesser so but accept its the way forward iirc) So MS is quids in on each new media disc sold anyhow.
