Don't understand? Haven't been on it for a few days, was working fine last time I played it. No lock up's or anything like that, actually I think it's only ever locked up about 4 of 5 times in the past and I've had it 16 months now.

I'm getting 3 red quads when I turn it on and nothing displayed on the screen. Would this come under the new extended 3 years warranty or not?

Doh :(

Yeah it's covered under the extended warranty, give MS a call to arrange collection.

And another one down...

Yup covered under the warranty. Phone MS, go through the usual checks they do to make sure it's not something else that is broken, then they will post or email you a UPS label. Box it up and label it, call UPS to collect (you don't pay for this, MS do) and then wait for it to be fixed/replaced.

Well that was painless. Just told me to pack it up and they'll send me a shipping label to post it back to them.

I was gearing myself up for a massive arguement :o

Nah I'm sure they get shedloads of people ringing up so they're used to it!!

Took about 2 weeks for mine to come back after it died.

I sent mine off the other day and the UPS guy said that 360 collections was all he was doing atm. He had picked up 6 before mine, in scarborough that morning.
Mine was only 5 months old :(. I chose to send it back to MS as I thought that if they fixed it there would be less chance of it breaking again rather than just exchanging it for a new one.
Is that the case or is the failure rate for repaired consoles just as bad?

Mine was a repair job and it broke again after about 1 week - no red lights, just freezing all the time. I returned it again and got it back with a new motherboard, so it was off to Gamestop to trade it in for an Elite.

These forums need an offical "my 360 has died" thread, theres at least two a week.

What it needs is a sticky telling people what to do if it breaks.I'm getting sick of people who feel the need to start a thread when this happens.

My dishwasher broke last week,i didn't feel the need to start a thread in GD though.

If its got the three red lights it might have a three year warranty.
But if its only scratching dishes its not covered.

Mine brokes last night as well, not red rings though, the screen just decided to go black and then when i started it up again it said "no input" so sending it back to Microsoft to get yet another replacement :(

Yes there should be a dedicated thread re: dead 360's, full errors/ troubleshooting and what to etc etc.

But untill then people are going to post threads to ask, so deal with it.

I bet UPS is making a killing from all these that keep dying! :p

Ignore the crankies. its a public forum, Its a console section. People have a right to post what they like if its not breaking any rules

Mine went belly up yesterday, went to play Forza 2 and it got to the intro then a loud crunch noise came from the console and now it won't read any discs.
It's one year old and i have the extended 3 year warranty with MS.

Anyone know if they fit the newer cooling/motherboards or whatever as standard now while it's in for repair ?
