Been plaing Just cause all night then I just swapped it over for Dead Rising (first time I played it) and I get the 3 red rings.

Can't believe It's happened. I honestly thought It wouldn't. Had it since december and it's not skipped a beat.

I've tried all the cable disconnecting and stuff but nothings working. Whenever I press on I just get the red. Will leave it to the morning to see If anything has changed. If not It's going back to argos. Is it ok to keep my HD? I don't fancy losing all my saves.

Anyway, Just thought I'd let you all know. Another one to add to the list. :(

Edit: Anyone know how I can get the Dead Rising disc out? The eject button is'nt doing anything.

I've got a good idea that it's just the power brick playing up. In standby the light is orange but as soon as I switch the console on it goes red. Would MS just replace that? Or would I have to send the whole lot off?

Would I still be able to send the console back if I had opened it up to get the disc out then?

I cant try your suggestion just yet Doug as I'm away from home atm. I'll have to sort the whole thing out on monday.

I had the three red lights thingy happen once. Managed to recover from it by holding down the wireless connect button then hitting the power. Worked for me, so worth a shot. I haven't had any problems since.

Just got my brother to try it, didn't work.

you would generally need some proof of purchase. A receipt itself isnt necessary but soemthing proving you did buy it from there and when.

Thanks. Just did a little search and It looks like the catalogue number on the side of the box is enough to send it back.

I'm going to try and borrow my mates PSU to see if thats the problem. If it is, I should be able to get the disc out. If not I'll have to take the thing apart and hope they dont notice. Also gonna ask if I can keep my HD.

can u not fit a small flat headed screw driver under there to prise it out so you can pull it out enough to get the disk out?

I'll give it a try. (Well, on monday)

I'll take the faceplate off aswell to avoid marking it.

There was a video on youtube that shows you how to fix the 3 red light problem. IIRC it involves heating the mobo slowly with a heat gun, sounds strange but it worked. Quite a few people had replied saying it fixed their problem too so might be worth a shot if all else fails.

As for opening the DVD tray, IIRC its a standard PC drive so there is usually a manual release. Look for a small hole, then use a pin. You might need to remove the facia to see it though.

Yeah that really would be last resort. Thanks for the advice about the drive. :)

I emailed MS last night but got a generic email referring me to a help page for the 3 red lights. I then rang them but was on hold for half an hour so I hung up.

Great.

i just read this, there are so many people with this 3 redlight problem. i just hope my newly bought 360 never has this problem

Thing is it wont even turn on, so I can't run initial setup.

Overall I think just shows that even If your 360 has been running for months and months It can just go at anytime.

I'd put money on it that quite a few more people on here with launch consoles will be seeing the 3 red lights.

Just got off the phone with MS. There sending me a new power supply. :D

3-4 days though. :(

Edit: Tried to take the thing apart earlier to get my DR disc out, but had no luck. Broke the warrenty seal aswell. I might try and take it back to argos anyway so I get a quieter one.

By the way have you checked with another power supply to see if 360 works ok with another. ? (Ie a friends Power Supply)

Thats the foolish mistake i made not checking and i had absolute hell took ages before i got replacement.

Yeah, borrowing a friends PSU tomorrow night. If I find thats not the problem I'll have to take it back to argos, which I will probably do anyway.
