Depending on whether they added the drive to the x360 or a pc you may get a different opinion from people
I have had no end of trouble running mine with PowerDVD Ultra (the only version of PDVD that decodes/plays HD-DVD discs approx £60 download) on a C2d E4300 /X1950 Pro vista ultimate shuttle , going to try using a nvidia card in this machine tonight to see if purevideo drivers help.
Attaching the drive to the console however you dont need the software of course, but you do get the additional noise from the console (louder than my shuttle) but it works well
To my mind the only movie I have really compared is MI-III and it looks a lot better in HD-DVD to my mind , but some cant tell much difference between SD and hi-def so its all about what you percieve.
I personally think £130 for the drive is quite expensive, but this is a MS add-on so you expect it to be pricier than it should be ( I mean £70 for a 20GB ext hdd OMG!!!!) but I paid the price willingly to support both formats - hopefully collecting a PS3 on release day - from a writing point of view its bluray all the way for me.

No way am I paying over £100 for an add on DVD player, no matter how sexy it looks![]()
I can confirm the package does not come with king kong, which is a shame because I love that movie.
