For those who have one which came with King Kong, did it mention anything about the DVD inside the box?

The only place it mentioned it on my box was a sticker on the outside.

Don't think they come with them anymore though so if you've brought it reciently then it probably isnt in it.

The new batches dont come with Kong anymore, it was only the first release and if you had one of the first release batches there would be a few stickers on the outside of the box advertising the fact.

Exactly my sentiment - but the additional detail is a good demo to try and show people the level of a good transfer etc (and for free of course)

Yeh that's true. The transfer was excellent and it was a good way to show what films can look like in HD.

It's still poop though! :D

And lets not forget it has Naomi Watts as the starlette.

Depending on whether they added the drive to the x360 or a pc you may get a different opinion from people

I have had no end of trouble running mine with PowerDVD Ultra (the only version of PDVD that decodes/plays HD-DVD discs approx £60 download) on a C2d E4300 /X1950 Pro vista ultimate shuttle , going to try using a nvidia card in this machine tonight to see if purevideo drivers help.

Attaching the drive to the console however you dont need the software of course, but you do get the additional noise from the console (louder than my shuttle) but it works well

To my mind the only movie I have really compared is MI-III and it looks a lot better in HD-DVD to my mind , but some cant tell much difference between SD and hi-def so its all about what you percieve.

I personally think £130 for the drive is quite expensive, but this is a MS add-on so you expect it to be pricier than it should be ( I mean £70 for a 20GB ext hdd OMG!!!!) but I paid the price willingly to support both formats - hopefully collecting a PS3 on release day - from a writing point of view its bluray all the way for me.

PowerDVD is not the only software to decode it. WinDVD also does it.

The drives seem to be like gold dust in my area. I spotted one last week in Game for a whopping £139.99

No way am I paying over £100 for an add on DVD player, no matter how sexy it looks :p

I can confirm the package does not come with king kong, which is a shame because I love that movie.

Well the pirce originally was £129.99 anyway, and no I don't think King Kong comes with it anymore. Was just a promo at the time.

Edit: £139.99 is cheap TBH. Just take a look at the prices on that auction website and you'll soon change your tune.

Why would anyone pay 139.99 on ebay. Then pnp on top when you can buy it online and in stock for between 119.99 and 129.99.
