I know HD is dead, but I can pick one of these up for £19.99 with 2 free DVDs, and every other DVD is £4.98....worth it?

Also, is it possible to play 'burned' HD movies from the net?

Thanks.

I think its very worth it, the remote alone is great.

I have quite a few HD-DVD films and the HD-DVD drive.

Its a "dead" format but they will still play and you can watch them.

It can be, depends on the quality of the transfer. I've found that the effect wears off after a bit though, so what once looked awesome just looks normal once you get used to it.

I bought one a few weeks ago with 2 movies for 25 quid. Its good value imo as theres stuff on it thats costs less than dvd.

The matrix was double sided with dvd on one side and hd-dvd on the other for 15 quid trilogy set.

There are some good films available for good prices.

Wow can't believe how cheap these are now!! I know it's a dead format etc but as people have said, pays for itself.

Don't know about where the OP is getting it from but when I checked it was £19.99 but no remote, which put me off it.

A high street chain is selling them for £19.99 new with remote and £24.99 new with remote and 2 HD-DVDs, thats when I got mine (about a month ago).

Managed to pick a few HD-DVDs up for £5 and Heroes series 1 boxset for £12.99 so can't complain. Picture quality is excellent. Definitely worth a punt for films you havent seen.

seen as you could probubly buy a HD DVD drive and every HD DVD film ever for under £100 now, Its worth it. Its only a dead format if you dont own the player for your disks. Yeah you wont get any new ones, but if theres even just a few HD DVDs you want, then why not?

Thats the case with pretty much anything though.

Watching stuff at 1080p looks great at first but you get used to it.

The xBox drives are a bargain at the moment. You can buy the drive plus all the Harry Potter films for less than 2 of the films on Blu-Ray...

Mine arrived last week, have about 12 titles on the way at £4 a pop and splashed out on Planet Earth for a bargain £15.

I think you have to use custom drivers.

Apart from that the reason is it's a dead format. Some people feel that means it's not worth the £30.

I would love one but have no where selling them near me. Would have to buy online.
