Hey guys,

What PC monitor resolutions are 720, 1080 etc?

I'm a bit dim when it comes to these things... my monitor is a Viewsonic VX922 19", what would i set the resolution to on the xbox, as it has a native resolution of 1280 x 1024, any help would be great thanks! :)

On my xbox when i've linked it via VGA HD cable it only gives me the resolution options (1280x1024 etc) and not the 720p and 1080i options so i wouldnt worry.

same monitor i have which i used with my 360 and i works a treat only prob i had was my speakers

1280x1024 with horizontal borders at th etop and bottom will be exactly 720p and 1920x1200 with similar borders will be exactly 1080p.

Any 16:10 monitor will distort the image as the 360 only outputs 16:9 as a widescreen resolution.

Hope that helps mate.

Yeah a decent 16:10 monitor will add the borders, the 16:9 resolutions are 1280x720 and 1920x1080

I'm really gutted that my dell 2407 which is 1920x1200 can't display the 1080p picture for some reason although it can handle 1080i, which is weird

You running it through VGA? Don't see why it wouldn't work?

I'm running it through the component connection and when I set the xbox to 1080p the display says its out of scan range please chage setting to 1920x1200 but I'm trying to do it at 1920x1080, surely those few pixels aren't going to affect it! argh

Does the vga cable output at 1080p?

Yeh on VGA it should be fine. Like Kreeeee said, Component on them panels are pretty poor.

Cheers for that guys, just read the panel can't take 1080p through component, will have to buy a vga cable (are these cables as long as the component cables you get)

8 foot long, same as Component ;)

i take it the vga cable is a good idea if i want to get the best experience from my 2007wfp then? im off to pick an xbox 360 up later and i can get 10% off so if its worth it over the cable in the premium pack il pick one up

I've found the best looking res is 1280x720 for the 2007wfp.

My VGA cable wouldn't let me go above 1368x768 :(

I got rid of it though, purely because I didn't have any spare good speakers to use & I had to change VGA cables for my PC/360 when I wanted to use one.
Component lets me go to 1080i though and of course it outputs through my TV's speaker, also found Component to be more vibrant in colours/sharper. (On my TV at least)
