Am i being stupid, or is it this simple...

Buy new HDD for 360 (ie 120gb), unplug 20gb drive, plug in 120gb drive and bobs your uncle???

Do you need to install anything onto the new drive? profile, the xbox dashboard etc?

i think theres an option to get a transfer cable but i think you have to send off for it free of charge iirc and this will enable you to transfer your profile across and any other saved content although im not sure how it works,
i presume it would be moving the data rather than copying it across
the drive will essentially be blank but will still have some basic data in order for someone to setup a fresh profile :)

If you are meaning buying the new Microsoft 120gb 360 hard drive, you get a transfer cable to let you copy the everything off the old 20gb drive over to the 120gb drive. It then wipes the 20gb drive.

(Xbox firmware / dashboard is stored in flash memory inside the 360 itself)

ok thanks for that - so my 20gb would become redundant, and i couldnt 'switch' them back and forth... i.e use one to store games/movies from LIVE - and plug in when i want to use that

and the other to store my main 360 game data? (saves etc)

Is there no way yet of making a custom hdd attachment. Seems ridiculously expensive for a 120gb hard drive.

i guess if you just wanted films etc on the 120gb you could just recover your gamertag to use that and then leave all your save games etc on the 20gb drive??

I dont know if you have to keep recovering your tag everytime you swapped drives though??

Theres a guy on the auction site thats selling 120Gb for about £65 all in but its from HK.
