hey guys, just a quick Q

Do the new premiums that have the HDMI on them have HDCP?

also do you get a HDMI to HDMI connection in the box?

cheers

No I don't think the 360 is HDCP compliant, only Sony carries HDCP on consoles AFAIK. (Through HDMI of course ;) )

All devices that have a HDMI connector automatically have HDCP. It won't matter with the Xbox 360 because none of the HD-DVD movies use HDCP yet.

Playing HD-DVD or upscaling DVDs enables HDCP on HDMI Xbox 360 consoles.

Playing games, doesn't. The picture is sent "in the clear" as it were.

I am using the cable that came with my 360 and have it set to HD and it connects to the component sockets on my LCD. If I was to buy a HDMI cable would it be a better picture than what I have already? The TV is only a 26" LCD. The 360 has got a HDMI socket as does the TV. 360 bought last week.

Thanks

Could be. I think it all depends on your TV. On the Sony in the living room, I can't tell any difference. On the cheap AOC one in my bedroom, component has slight ghosting whereas HDMI doesn't.

thats awesome info guys

only wondered cos ive been having no end of problems getting hd-dvds to work on my PJ and pc via hdmi, so was gonna try test the pj with a friends 360 (its the hdmi one) and wanted to make sure hdcp was on it before i went to test it incase its that

The purple shirt brigade have some official HDMI cables right now, but they're about £30...a little expensive for what they are, but the additional phono/optical audio output they have as well as the HDMI connection is a really good idea, and I guess, along with generally good QC is what you're paying for. Tempted to get one so I can get a nice, but cheap 5.1 setup going ^^
