Hi All

I've just been trying to hook my wired 360 headset (official one) up to my pc using 3 items:
A USB soundcard
A convertor lead that converts a 3.5mm jack lead from a headset into two 3.5mm jack plugs, one for a mic and one for headphones
A plug thru convertor to go from a 2.5mm jack to a 3.5mm jack

I had read that you could use this setup to get the official headset working.

However, I'm having a bit of a problem with it in that I can get the audio through the headset but I can't get it to pick up the microphone as well.

Has anyone else tried hooking up a headset in this way and had success?

Sadly I've only got wireless controllers.

It's not a huge problem as I can just get myself a cheap headset but just wnted to see if I could get the xbox one working as it's pretty lightweight and comfy and is only one ear which I wanted as I only want it for voice in games etc.

Any one got any thoughts on this?

I might just end up getting a cheap second hand wired controller if I can't get the adapter working.

Though at the moment my pc struggles a bit with teamspeak and BF2 open...it's very old you see!!!

Simply put the 360 headset into the 360 pad as you would on the console, assuming you have the USB 360 dongle to link the control pad to the PC.

Once it's in, on Win 7 anyhow a prompt bubble will pop up saying Headset for Microsoft Xbox 360 is Installed and ready for use.

Works on wired version too.

I realise it would be very simple using the 360 controller but I don't have a wired controller nor a usb dongle for my pc, what I do have however, as I've mentioned is a USB sound card, a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack convertor and a lead which splits a 3.5 mm jack socket out into headphones and microphone leads.

Using this setup I have managed to get the microphone working, and have managed to get the headphone working on my 360 headset depending on how far I plug the jacks in but not both of them and I'm not sure why, anyone got any thoughts?

Edit: Just had a look at the prices for a USB receiver...ouch, pretty expensive sadly!

After I posted that (having seen them at about £15 - £20) I did find them for £11, not so bad afterall.

Still seems shame to have to spend out when the leads etc I have should really work...
