Today I'm taking delivery of an LCD TV which has both VGA and component inputs, I also have the VGA and component leads for my 360, so which one will give the best quality?

Many Thanks.

I don't wish to sound rude but make your own mind up.

If you have all the leads and the tv has all the inputs they just work it out for yourself.

Each of us have different opinions on what looks better so its down to personal preference.

No worries you don't sound rude, was just trying to get an idea of which input people found to be best, and yeah I was probably being a little bit lazy :p

Which TV are you getting?

It's quite personal. I've got a Toshiba 32WLT66 and Component is best (and I prefer 1080i over 720p) as over VGA colours can look a bit washed out.
Using VGA however your DVDs will be upscaled.

You're going to have to try them both.

I read on avforums that VGA is better as when playing dvd from the 360 it upscales ??? I have component though so havent been able to confirm.

If your lcd has it I would go through Ypbpr/ycbcr . Have'nt yet tried through hdmi though yet on mine.

VGA will give the sharper cleaner picture, component will give a more colourful picture.

If you have a 3rd party VGA lead, then the component wins. If you have an official VGA lead, then that will win. (from my own experience).

As far as I have seen it depends on the TV you have, if you have both cables already play a bit with both and decide which is best.

VGA colours are identical to component if your TV supports the component colour format via the VGA port (All LG TVs do this and look absolutely stunning, the picture looks far better than VGA/component on the samsung screens).

Also, I got tearing with the official VGA cable that I don't get with the component on my Tosh 37WLT58
