I got my 360 in december time, and last month sometimes my console would reboot itself (monitor went to standby mode) and then it would show the 360 startup screen and then get to the xbox live screen, but once signed in again it would reboot again doing exactly the same over and over. It hasn't done it for a while but tonight it did it and after it rebooted itself a few times it has a red flashing LED on the bottom right of the power button, and it said "System Error. contact xbox customer support" - otherwords I should take it back to where I got it and swap it for another one?

According to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/907536

THINGS TO TRY1. Turn off the console, disconnect and reconnect all cables, then turn the console back again.
2. If an Xbox Hard Disk Drive is attached to the console, turn off the console, and then remove the Hard Disk. Turn on the console and test for the error. If the error does not reoccur, turn off the console and reattach the Hard Disk. Alternate testing with the hard drive connected and removed to see if the error occurs only while the hard drive is attached. For more information if the on-screen alpha-numeric error is E67, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
917874 Xbox 360: One red light flashes on the Ring of Light, and you receive error E67
3. If an Xbox Memory Unit (MU) is plugged in to the console, turn off the console, and then remove the Memory Unit. Turn on the console again and test for the error. If the error does not reoccur, turn off the console and reinsert the MU. Alternate testing with the MU inserted and removed to see if the error occurs only while the MU is inserted.
4. If you continue to experience this behavior, contact Xbox Customer Service.
Note If the agent cannot help you resolve this issue, you must return the console to Microsoft for repair.

/edit

Sounds like its HDD/MU problem, try booting with nothing else connection (Vision Cam, Controllers, HDD, etc..) and reconnect all the cables, making sure they are all in properly

I got mine around december time too, and mine hasn't rebooted once. It's definately not running as it should be, so I'd definately take it back and swap it for a new one.

I turned off the console and left for about 5mins then turned it on again (not via the controller so it didn't turn that on) and it seemed to boot up fine. Before when this has happened after leaving it off for a while it worked fine - sounds like a heat issue maybe? well I have my 360 on my desk standing up and it has loads of room around it, also the PSU has lots of free space around it, however it is laying on a carpet - but it did not feel hot (I grabbed it as soon as it started the rebooting proccess to see if it was hot). I think I will see how it goes and if it does it again in the next couple of weeks I am going to take it back!

Finally packed up today, was playing crackdown when a friend wanted to play then whilst joining it crashed, and started its routine of rebooting, xbox live screen, reboot etc etc..

So anyway I tried to get crackdown out and it would not open the damn DVD drive, after leaving it off for a while and retrying it stayed at the xbox live screen for a few mins before crashing but still couldn't get the DVD drive to open at all, after about 30mins of attempting it opened really stuttery, and when I closed it it was even more stuttery!

After that my monitor would say there was no signal and then it would boot up a really dark green colour and sometimes flicker, all the menu's looked a really odd dark green! If its not enough that its broken, the video store I got it from is no longer in my town so it means I got to go and travel next weekend to go to another store!
